On arrival at Lamb's Knees you will find an extensive information pack of local attractions, along with personal recommendations for days out, walking routes and local restaurants.

Walking & Cycling

Seaford is surrounded by the South Downs National Park, Cuckmere Valley & Seaford Head which are designated Areas of Outstanding Natural beauty and Areas of Special Scientific Interest, offering an absolute paradise for nature lovers, walkers & cycylists.

Explore coastal paths with iconic views of the Seven Sisters White Cliffs; Meander through magnificent shady beech trees in Friston Forest or amble through the oaks in the ancient Abbots Wood, where bluebells abound.

The final sections of the South Downs National trail are easily accessible from Seaford; 'River Ouse to River Cuckmere & Alfriston' & 'Alfriston to Eastbourne via Seven Sisters / Jevington'.

For those with little legs, 4 minutes walk away is the 2.5km Seaford promenade, an ideal place to totter with a melting ice cream in your hand. Or slightly further afield, keep your eyes wide open in the hunt for 'Winnie the Pooh' in Ashdown Forest.

For the romantics, how about a moonlight stroll along the beach front before snuggling up in front of the wood burning stove with a marshmallow-topped hot chocolate?

Family Favourite Rock Pool Fishing

Rockpool Fishing

Grab your fishing nets and head down to Hope Gap for a 'mini beast' safari. There are oodles of creatures waiting to be discovered in the rock pools with crabs, shrimps, cheeky Gobbies, eel-like Butterfish and anenomes aplenty, we have even seen baby cuttlefish wriggling inside their eggs. If you dare to run your net along the seaweed ledges you might even find a Father-Lasher bull headed fish.... a true monster of the deep!

Early morning visitors may even be rewarded with sightings of seals expertly fishing in the bay.

Attractions

Jump on the train from Seaford straight to the centre of vibrant Brighton (30 min direct). Wander through the The Laines & North Laine filled with bohemian shops and antique jewelry stores. Try a spot of lunch at the exotic Royal Pavilion or a candy floss on The Pier before heading to Brighton's latest attraction the i360 for spectacular views along the coastline.

On the way home stop off in medieval Lewes and clamber up Lewes Castle, a 1000 year old Norman Castle, for stunning panoramic views across Sussex.

No trip to Sussex would be complete without a Sussex cream tea. We suggest heading to the 'chocolate box village' of Alfriston, (less than 10 minutes drive) to Badgers Tea House for fabulous teas, cakes & scones. Visit the Alfriston Clergy House, the first ever property obtained by the National Trust, and the 'Cathederal of the Downs' - St Andrews Church. Meander down the 'Kissing Gate Walk' along the Cuckmere River and visit the beautiful 13th century Lullington Church - the smallest church in England.
